Mitsubishi Outlander in blue

The compact SUV market has two major players fighting for attention: the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander and the 2025 Nissan Rogue. Both have gotten fresh updates this model year, and if you're considering either, you'll have plenty to think about. We've made this guide as a car comparison tool so that you can decide which of these SUVs is right for you.

Overview of the Nissan Rogue vs. Mitsubishi Outlander

You'll notice the difference in size between these vehicles right away. Overall, the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander is a slightly bigger car, providing more passenger space than the 2025 Nissan Rogue. In addition to that, the Outlander fits seven people, while the Rogue maxes out at five. That extra row in the Outlander is a total game changer if you've got a bigger family or haul groups around regularly.

Both SUVs begin around the same price. You'll pay $29,645 to start for the Outlander and $29,590 for the Rogue. However, Mitsubishi pulls ahead big time with their warranty. You get 10 years or 100,000 miles on the powertrain, while Nissan only gives you five years or 60,000 miles.

Design and Exterior Features

Both SUVs look sharp. The Outlander rocks a sleek front end with that split headlight setup. Nissan took a different approach with the Rogue. It features rugged lines and their signature grille. Both models get LED lights and a variety of available wheel options.

The Outlander's dimensions are 185.8 inches long, 74.7 inches wide, and 68.7-68.8 inches tall. The Rogue comes in a bit smaller at 183 inches long, 72.4 inches wide, and 66.5 inches high. When it comes to ground clearance, the Outlander sits 8.3-8.4 inches off the ground versus the Rogue's 8.2 inches.

Interior Comfort and Tech Features

The cabins in both rides look and feel nice. Mitsubishi went upscale with the Outlander, offering premium quilted leather seats on higher trims and a clean dash design. Nissan kept things more straightforward in the Rogue with easy-to-use controls and comfy seating. Both offer nice amenities, such as dual climate zones, heated seats, and power driver's seat adjustments.

You'll get a standard 12.3-inch touch screen in the Outlander, and the Rogue starts with an 8-inch screen with the option of a 12.3-inch one. Both SUVs come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so that your phone connects wirelessly.

The exterior size difference in these SUVs translates to their interior space too. The Outlander has 125.5 cubic feet of passenger volume against 105.4 cubic feet in the Rogue.

Cargo Space and Practicality

The Outlander gives you 10.9 cubic feet behind row three, 30.6 cubic feet with the third row folded, and a max of 64.3 cubic feet with all seats flat. Since the Rogue has no third row, you start with more cargo space — 36.5 cubic feet — and you'll max out at 74.1 cubic feet with all seats down. Both have 60/40-split folding rear seats, and the Outlander adds that 50/50-split third row for even more flexibility. Both SUVs also feature plenty of in-cabin storage, including door pockets, console bins, and cup holders.

Performance and Engine Specifications

The Outlander runs with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. The Rogue's smaller 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder pumps out 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque.

Both SUVs use CVT transmissions for smooth power and better fuel numbers. Front-wheel drive comes standard, and all-wheel drive costs extra. If you do any light towing, the Outlander can pull 2,000 pounds, and the Rogue maxes at 1,500 pounds.

Fuel Economy Comparison

With front-wheel drive, the Rogue gets 30 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg combined. The Outlander manages 24 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined. Note that these efficiency figures will drop slightly if you choose an all-wheel-drive model.

Safety Features

The Outlander and Rouge both come packed with standard driver aids, including forward collision warning, cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. These systems work together to help avoid accidents before they happen. The Outlander also offers MI-PILOT Assist, which combines adaptive cruise and lane-keeping assist for highway driving. The Rogue counters with ProPILOT Assist, which has similar features. Both take some stress out of long drives and help keep you centered in your lane.

Which SUV Is Right for You?

The 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan Rogue are both strong choices. The Outlander wins if you need seven seats and like a slightly bigger SUV. You may prefer the Rogue if you want better gas mileage and a slightly lower price tag. They both offer similar tech features, although that bigger standard screen in the Outlander is a nice bonus.
