With spring upon us, the time is ripe to get out and enjoy the warming weather. The Youngstown, Ohio, area offers an abundance of options for those who like hitting the links. Check out these golf courses for a refreshing afternoon in the sun.
Henry Stambaugh Municipal Golf Course
A standing highlight since 1923, the Henry Stambaugh Municipal Golf Course features 3,420 yards and nine holes. With a course rating of 35 and a 110 slope rating, this golf course offers ample challenges. Players have a maximum of two hours to complete the course. All but two holes are a par 4. You'll get a break on the sixth hole, which is a par 3, but you'll need to spend a little more time on the par-5 eighth hole. The long, tree-lined fairways are relatively straight.
The Henry Stambaugh Golf Course is a local favorite for affordable play. A round of golf is just $10 for adults with a $5 fee to replay the nine holes. Seniors ages 60 and up and juniors ages 17 and under pay just $9. Riding cart rentals are $7 per person for the first round and $5 per person to replay the course. Push carts are just $5 per person. If you hit the links often, you may want to consider a membership, which is just $375 per year for adults, $325 for seniors, and $150 for juniors.

Youngstown Country Club
The Youngstown Country Club dates back to 1911. This picturesque destination features rolling hills, a winding creek, stately tree lines, and several challenging bunkers. Most of the 18 holes are par 4. Holes five, seven, and 17 have a par 5. The former two cover nearly 500 yards and hole 17 spans 550 yards. The course also features four holes with a par 3 and less than 200 yards to provide ample variety.
After a rousing game, you can relax in the elegant clubhouse, which features two stunning fireplaces, a cocktail lounge, a formal dining room, a ballroom, and a basement grille room. The Terrace Room is especially popular for dining, as it overlooks the first and tenth tees, as well as the putting green.
To enjoy the amenities of the Youngstown Country Club, you must become a member. Membership is by referral only. You may contact the club manager to schedule a tour and learn more.

Bedford Trails Golf Course
The par-70 Bedford Trails Golf Course features 6,340 yards across its 18 holes. Entertaining the public since 1985, this is a local favorite for special events. Bedford Trails goes above and beyond to cater to all your needs during a day on the links, so you don't have to think about a thing. The facility features a practice green where you can warm up, as well as a cozy clubhouse and on-site restaurant where you can unwind and relax at the end of your game.
You can build your ideal day of golfing with the competitively priced packages available at Bedford Trails. These packages typically include a round of golf, a cart rental, and a meal. The recently refurbished restaurant serves a selection of appetizers, sandwiches, and full dinners. Beverage tubs and carts are available at no charge, so you can enhance your day without spending anything extra. Seniors enjoy special savings on weekdays.

Mill Creek Golf Course
When you want plenty of holes to challenge your party, Mill Creek Golf Course is the best option. This facility features two 18-hole par-70 golf courses. Designed by Donald J. Ross, these engaging courses have enthralled golfers since 1928. On the North Course, you'll encounter a variety of natural hazards, including towering trees, lengthy water hazards, and an abundance of bunkers. On the South Course, you'll find even more water features scattered along primarily flat terrain.
The golf course itself is open from April through November. In the winter months, the landscape becomes an engaging course for cross-country skiing. The Hole 55 Bar & Grille has everything you need to complete your day, from light snacks to hearty meals, beer, and wine. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekends.
Tippecanoe Country Club
Donald J. Ross also designed the rolling greens of the golf course at the Tippecanoe Country Club. This 18-hole golf course is a satisfying par 72 with 7,000 yards to experience. The tree-lined fairways are artfully interspersed with sparkling ponds to deliver a memorable experience. The golf club also features a 275-yard driving range where you can practice your swing. PGA golf professional Michael Spiech operates the Pro Shop and offers golf lessons to visitors of all ages.
You must be a member to enjoy the golf course at the Tippecanoe Country Club. To join, a current member must act as your sponsor. Members get access not only to the golf club but also to the tennis courts, swimming pool, clubhouse, and more.

Par 3 Golf Course
If you're looking for a quick and simple game of golf, the Par 3 Golf Course has 18 holes that are sure to please. Resident rates are $14 walking or $22 riding for nine holes. If you'd like to experience all 18 holes, it's $28 walking or $44 riding. Discounts are available for seniors and juniors. Non-residents must pay slightly more.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
