POP Art Books Culture
POP Art Books Culture is the brainchild of Craig Duster. A former comic book dealer, Craig decided to combine his love of books, art, and culture into one eclectic space that offers a little of everything. POP sees high culture and pop culture as synonymous, assigning the same value to everything from opera to sci-fi.
You will predictably find products in all of its namesake categories in the store. This is a great place to dig up rare finds like vintage books and autographed copies. If you have some great books to sell from your own collection, you can bring these in for store credit that you can use for up to 50% off your next purchase. POP also hosts special events on occasion, such as sip and paint classes.
POP Art Books Culture is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. You can visit from 11 a.m. to 6 pm. on Saturdays or between noon and 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Youngstown State University Bookstore
The Youngstown State University Bookstore is naturally the best place to go if you need coursebooks or supplies for classes at the university. However, the bookstore offers far more than textbooks. You'll also find a complete selection of new releases and popular literature, including young adult fiction and kids' books.
The bookstore offers an abundance of other supplies as well. You can pick up calculators, notebooks, binders, and writing supplies. This is also your go-to store for university apparel and other branded spirit items.
The bookstore is easily accessible near campus if you have your own used car to use at school. You'll find it's an easy walk from the school if you're on foot. The Youngstown State University Bookstore is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Visit the online store for access to extra finds not available in-store, like computers and tablets.
Friends Bookstore at The Public Library
The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County is home to the Friends Bookstore. You can find the store right inside the Poland Library. The Friends of PLYMC run this small bookstore and donate proceeds to the public libraries of Mahoning County. The books on these shelves are once-read, so you'll find they're only gently used and in excellent condition for joining your home collection.
The Friends Bookstore occasionally hosts donation events to collect more gently used books to add to their collection. This store operates on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
Leana's Books and More
Leana's Books and More got its start in the Four Season's Flea Market. The operation has since expanded into three locations. The closest option for Boardman residents is in Austintown, Ohio. You can find additional locations in Grove City, PA, and Hermitage, PA. Leana's Books is the only independently owned full-service bookstore in Western Pennsylvania.
Maintaining a collection of thousands of books across its storefronts, Leana's Books uses an online store to keep much of its merchandise organized. You can order online and opt for in-store pickup to avoid shipping fees. While you're in the store grabbing your pre-ordered books, you're sure to discover new finds as well.
The Austintown location of Leana's Books is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Christian Science Reading Room
The Christian Science Reading Room of The Mother Church serves as both a bookstore and a peaceful place for prayer and study where visitors can soak up the meaning of the texts. The store carries all books by Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science. You'll also find bibles, recordings, magazines, Bible reference books, and faith-based books that explore healing through prayer.
The Christian Science Reading Room is located next to the First Church-Christ Scientist in Youngstown, Ohio.
Paperback Shack
The Paperback Shack has proudly served great reading material to its customers since 1978. This small independent bookstore specializes in paperback fiction, mainly selling used books. You will also find a smaller selection of hardcover books and new books. The collection offers something from all genres, including fantasy, mystery, paranormal, sci-fi, western, thriller, and young adult fiction.
Paperback Shack accepts used books in exchange for store credit. You must use your store credit the same day you earn it. Store credit is not valid for new books or those marked "cash only." Paperback Shack also gladly accepts book donations. The Paperback Shack's hours change seasonally.
All American Cards & Comics
If comic books are your preferred reading material, All American Cards & Comics has what you're looking for. This store has a 25-year history of providing customers with an outstanding collection of new and old comic books. This is the largest comic store in Northeast Ohio, delivering a selection that many comic book seekers are willing to make a drive for.
All American Cards & Comics also carries Pokemon cards, Funko POPs!, HeroClix Miniatures, Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, game miniatures, and Dungeons & Dragons supplies. The store is open Monday through Friday from noon to 7 p.m., Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
