The Mitsubishi Mirage and the Nissan Versa are both restyled, upgraded models within their respective eras of 2015 and 2016. These models featured many of the same exterior, interior, and modern equipment and technology upgrades. The Mitsubishi Mirage helped boost sales in 2016 with new technology and a redesigned exterior, among a wealth of other features. The Nissan Versa contested this change, released just before the Mirage in 2015 and introducing modifications that weren't present in previous models. After its initial release, the Versa would undergo minor upgrades in the following year.

With both vehicles so similar in specs and features, which one is better? Both vehicles fill many of the same expectations and target a similar audience. Both subcompact vehicles compete against each other with similar mileage, weight, horsepower, and general turn radius and control. Below we're going to detail each element of both the Mitsubishi Mirage and the Nissan Versa to see which is the better car and which may be perfect for you and whatever, or whoever, you travel with.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is an economical vehicle, competing directly with the Nissan Versa throughout 2015 and 2016. Its automatic transmission allows it to conserve fuel, both when going fast on the highway and when cruising at low speeds in the city. The fuel economy in the city is 36 mpg, while on the highway, the Mirage gets 43 mpg. On a combined evaluation, the Mirage gets 39 mpg.

Nissan Versa MPG

In comparison, the Nissan Versa MPG differs only slightly. The Nissan Versa is still a fuel economic vehicle, achieving much of this due to its internal automatic transmission and quality tires. The Nissan Versa has 32 mpg in the city and low speeds. On the highway, the Nissan Versa performs at 40 mpg. The combined evaluation total for the Nissan Versa is 35 for both kinds of areas.

The Mitsubishi Mirage has a comfortable interior, fitting five passengers easily. Lengthwise, the cabin is 151.4 inches in length, and it's about 18 inches shorter than the sedan edition of the vehicle. It rides on about 95 inches of wheelbase, sitting just about 65 inches wide from end to end. This gives the car wide space not only for passengers but also a small amount of cargo at the same time. The passengers have about 37 inches of headroom and 34 inches of legroom.

Nissan Versa Interior

Both individual drivers and those traveling in a group can benefit from the Nissan Versa interior. The rear passenger seat section is roomy and seats three comfortably. The Versa can carry five adults, two in the front. Concerning trunk volume, the Nissan Versa has about 15 cubic feet of space, making it viable for carrying luggage in most contexts. Because of the space in the rear seat and even in the front two seats, passengers can hold small bags as well if necessary.

Mitsubishi Mirage Features

The Mitsubishi Mirage has many safety features within the cabin of the car. One essential feature that the Mirage hosts is the emergency braking with pedestrian detection. This helps the driver automatically brake the car to a stop if both internal cameras or external senses detect something in the car's front. Manufacturers include this for all trims of the vehicle as a set standard. The Mirage also features a lane departure warning for most trims, helping keep drivers in the same lane by offering a signal if they sway too far into the other lane.

Nissan Versa Features

The Nissan Versa has many essential safety features, one of which is rear and automatic emergency braking. Sensors located on the front and back of the vehicle can sense if something is there and automatically activate the brakes for you while also giving the driver a warning. Lane departure warning helps drivers maintain their lane position, avoiding veering off near or entirely into someone else's lane while on a long stretch of highway. This can also help for deep-sided roads, where running off of one side of the road may mean axle damage for the car.

The Versa also comes equipped with high beams for high visibility during the night and fog lights for maximum visibility during rainy and foggy weather. Upgrading to the SV or SR addition of the car allows for some additional features, such as the driver alertness monitor and blind-spot monitoring. The driver alertness monitor allows the driver to focus on the road. The car gives the driver an alert if the sensors indicate that they're not watching the road. This feature is non-intrusive and can help maintain driver awareness.

Blind-spot monitoring is also an additional help for drivers on long trips. When changing lanes, the blind spot monitor helps watch your blind spot and alerts you if the sensors detect anything within that area. This can help drivers maintain safety while changing lanes, especially on the highway at heightened speeds.

Not sure which model is best for you? We understand. Both the Nissan Versa and the Mitsubishi Mirage have positive qualities that can make your morning commute or daily drives easier. With more mpg, generous cargo space, and a wealth of safety and technological features, we recommend to anyone that they consider the Mitsubishi Mirage before the Nissan Versa. While the Versa may have an abundance of features for alternative trims, the Mirage has many of the standard safety features that are accessible without needing to choose an upgrade.
